Hillside was one of the most developed maps in the pipeline at the time of Mountaintop's studio closure — it had been greenlit for Season 3 and was well into the art-ready blockout phase.

The design was a deliberate departure from the industrial and urban environments of the launch maps. Hillside explored open natural terrain: hillside paths, exposed ridgelines, and organic elevation changes as the primary spatial vocabulary. This created genuinely new Duality challenges — natural terrain doesn't offer the same clean cover geometry as urban construction, so Spectre placement required more creative thinking about line-of-sight denial.

The map had passed internal playtesting and was on track for a full art pass. It represents the most complete unreleased work in this portfolio.
